28 Years in Real Estate
Albert Einstein once said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” February 2023 marked my 28th year in real estate! Over the past 28 years, this industry has experienced transformative change and I’m both excited and reticent about the ways change has taken place in my industry.
When I started my real estate career, each week a small “phonebook” was published featuring current listings, pending and sold properties. Just searching for properties and making appointments took hours. Making a spreadsheet of sold properties to arrive at a fair market value also took hours and was not as accurate. Fast forward to the present. With the touch of a button, I can schedule home tours through an online app in seconds. I can quickly analyze properties to arrive at a fair market value for buyers or sellers. And, buyers are put on an even playing field when it comes to the immediacy of real estate inventory.
Technology has helped me and my team become very successful and more accurate. However, despite the limitless data available to buyers and sellers, there are qualitative decisions raw data can’t touch. There is simply no substitute for working with a professional who has been involved in hundreds of transactions and toured thousands of properties. With this in mind, my biggest hope for the future of real estate is that the interpersonal aspect of the home buying/selling process does not disappear. After all, the decision to buy and sell real estate is usually one of the largest financial decisions many people make.
I am intrigued to keep seeing the industry evolve and change. It’s my passion and my profession.
Respectfully,
